I’ve bought this pen just because of its compact size. A week ago, during geocaching activity I have lost it. Felt disappointed a little, but after 2 days I went on the location to check. Bingo! It rains down in a meanwhile. No problems. Work perfect!

Have used the F301 Compact for several years. I have 4 of these in my drawer now because the O ring fails and the cap won’t stay on in writing mode. It seems that you would at least make replacement O rings available just like refills. A bad O ring makes a “junk” pen! Thank you for an otherwise excellent pen which I love.

I’ve had this pen for 8 years now, no signs of wear, it’s the best EDC pen period. Most people complain about the 2 piece design, if it wobbles your “o” ring has dried up on the pen side, the o ring from a Mag Light Solitaire will fit perfectly, problem solved, plus it’s lanyard ready, just put a Victorinox split ring from a 58mm product and a Nite Ieze # 0 S-Binner and can clip it to my key chain, neck chain or stick it un my front pants pocket, I’ve never been without a pen since, also in my edc pens in rotation are the “expandz” slide pen and the SL-F1 mini, so depending on the situation I’ll choose one, by the way I got hooked on Zebra Pens winh the 301 Pen and Pencil set some 30 years ago which I still have! Zebra makes great pens!

I agree that the cover (when the pen is in use) is a little loose. However, the easy fix for me was to put it on the floor and step on it! (Just put weight on it, not stomp it.) This makes the cover slightly more oval than circular, and it fits perfectly and snugly. Pliers would of course work too.

Hi Bill. Thanks for your feedback. Zebra’s product development team is aware of this issue and is working to rectify this problem. Thanks for the heads up!

I have a Fisher Titanium Bullet Pen, and also their Trekker Pen, and various Cross offerings…. All very nice pens, which I ‘occasionally’ use during certain activities. However, my Zebra F-301 Compact is my ‘go to’ daily warrior! I purchased a package containing two pens, about 5(?) years ago and I’m ‘still’ using the first one (I did need to replace the refill once, or twice(?)!). My ‘only’ issue with these pens is, that more retail stores don’t carry them!? I have had friends ask about my F-301 Compact, and wish to purchase one, but say that they can’t locate them at local retailers!? That’s the reason, that I’m perusing the Internet to purchase one for a friend. Definitely a ‘FIVE *****’ pen! Write on, Zebra….

Really wanted to love this pen or at least like it a lot so I bought two of them for everyday use. I prefer retractable but was looking for more compact and thought I’d try these anyway. It writes nicely and feels pretty nice but the poorly designed cap is bad news. Lost one pen now as it slipped out while I was writing some notes and the pen fell into some machinery, fortunately it didn’t damage the machines. It’s not as compact as I’d like either. Don’t trust it to carry anymore so it’s relegated to home use only. Really wish the telescoping pens were more compact. Really, why was it not designed to click the cap on it securely? I wish I hadn’t bought them. Should have got the Fisher bullets I guess, but live and learn. Too many bad points to overwrite the good points. Can’t rate it any higher. It’s too flawed and I shouldn’t have to tape up new pens to use them!

I simply loved this pen to begin with, but when I went to Wal-mart to purchase a refill, I noticed that there was a package hanging with what I thought was a pen plus another refill. To my amazement it was the zebra but with it was a compact pen, and so I bought it just because it was different as well as it was the only one left. I work as a security officer & I liked the way it fit so perfect in my uniform pocket & it looked stylish. Then my fellow officer had a black stain on his uniform pocket due to his pen leaking & was told to go home & change before starting his shift. Later I realized how great it would be to show him my new jewel. I’ve never found one since to give to him either. So glad that I can order this pen for myself and my friends online. By the way, the lid also shook when I put it together to write with it. My son fixed this problem using a tiny “O-Ring” on that section & after 5 years it still holds tightly & I’ve never had to replace another O-Ring for that one. All he had to do was trim it ever so slightly to allow it to slip over that end. Maybe you’d like to add something like that to your great compact model. Thanks…K.Crates

I agree with the cap being a little loose when using the pen. Otherwise great pen. Can store in shirt or pant pocket without feeling like you have a pen.

I like the Compact pen. The only thing that I think would make it a little nicer is if it came in Camo or colors to match Military uniforms. I know a guy in the service who likes using your pen but when he is on training he can’t carry his favorite pen because it does not match his uniform.

I just purchased a pair of these pens and will say that I am disappointed that the 2 pieces do not lock together when in writing mode. When the pens is closed, it locks into the silver end that acts like a sheath. When you put them into writing mode, the sheath does not lock onto the top of the writing end. Seems like they forgot to add a locking mechanism to the pen when in writing mode. fix this and I’ll be buying these by the hundreds

This is the best pen ever.

It is super easy to carry around in a pocket and it writes well and reliably. My sister and brother in-law are also F301 Compact zealots.

Please continue making these pens forever. I always buy several at once because they are often hard to find and I live in fear that you may discontinue them at some point.

This is best pen ever, it fits in your front pants pocket or shirt pocket…it’s just like a regular 301 but compact with the same refill so it writes smooth!

Love this pen. Been using Zebra ballpoints for 20+ years and carry this one with me at all times because it’s so compact (9.7 mm closed). The stainless steel barrel looks good and is STRONG–I once used it for leverage to twist a CAR JACK when I couldn’t find the right tool. Amazing.

Glad you love it! We love it too. You never know when the F-301 will come in handy!

My all time favorite pen. Writes perfectly always, great quality. I like the full size, but prefer this model for its small size. I buy them in bunches and give them as gifts.

I have been carrying one with me at all times for years. It plus my Swiss Army knife makes me ready for anything. The most convenient pens I’ve ever used. My only problem with them is getting them back if I loan one.

I’ve been using these pens for about five or six years. They’re awesome. They fit in my pocket perfectly, and they look classy for a casual pen. My only complaint Is that the cap is a little loose when it’s on the back end of the pen. Fixed it with a couple of layers of clear tape.
