I have been a fan of the F-301 pens for years, not only because of the superior writing, but also because of the small diameter of the barrel. My favorite was the F-301 Ultra, but sadly it broke when dropped on a tile floor, and this model has been discontinued. The F-402 has a fatter barrel and is not quite as comfortable to write with. Bring back the F-301 Ultra!!

I have been using the F301 since we first discovered it and as a nurse, I had to keep an address label on the pen or it would disappear to someone else. I finally bought them by the dozen pack and sold them to the other nurses. We need to write small and this pen performs perfectly without skipping, dropping ink blobs, needing to make circles to have it write evenly, etc. It fits neatly in pockets without staining the clothing or my purse. My only problem has been that I write fast, tiny and continuously and sometimes it seems I write faster than the ink comes but I called Zebra and they replaced the filler – thinking it had been on the store shelf too long before I bought the pen. I too like the 301A as it fits in a pocket better but it is a bit fatter than the 301 and the ultra has a very nice feel to it. Mine has not broken yet and I hope it will hold many more fillers.

Is there a date on the packaging so I know how old it is? I just bought the 301A @ Walmart and in just over a week and a half both pens are dry as a board. I was so happy when I found a refillable pen because I am tired of just throwing pens away. But 6 or 7 days of Sudoku puzzles and dry? Very frustrated.

Average pen, the barrel is fatter than the F-301 pens but otherwise, I don’t see anything special about it.

Love, love, love the pens, but what happened to the F-301 with red ink? As an accountant, I use that one constantly.

Greg been writing with F301 since they came out

These are probably fine – and they are probably even lighter than the steel F301.

I’m a pen fan. I’ve been using F301’s since the early 80’s – the F301 Ultra was like Zebra engineers said to themselves – lets fix the clip breaking off, make the grip more comfortable, fix the clicker durability issue, “feel” slightly heavier, and then management said let’s stop making them to frustrate our loyal Zebra fans. I have a graveyard of broken original F301 (breaking the plastic barrel at the shank or tip, pocket clip plastic snapped, clicker worn out). I’ve used a few of the F301s so much the clicker tip was rounded and I’ve significantly worn the plastic grip. Get a couple years out of them before they break or stop clicking. Best was four refills. Lost a couple too.

Found an F301 that was run over in a parking lot. It is not straight but still writes. It is in my shop as a survivor.

Sadly, of the 20 Ultras in the box I bought in 2003(?), I only have 2 F301 Ultra left, snapped last one in my pocket and now I don’t carry them with me anymore. (I gave some to friends who admired my Ultra, and lost 2 or 3)

F301 Ultra is my pen of choice to write with, but the F701 is my carry pen.

Zebra – bring back the F301 Ultra in steel!

I love the fine point, especially that it has a bit of “resistance” on the paper. Very durable and looks good. My only complaint is that the plastic grip portion of the pen is a bit slippery for my preferences. It’s smaller size works especially well for putting it into the spiral of a wire-spiral notebook or the pen clip of a portfolio. A very good pen.

I have used the original F301’s for years, love them. The F301A comes out, just as good, but can’t find them in stores..Make something good and now you can’t find them..???

    Outstanding!

I like these pens….the only reason I stopped taking notes is because I ran out of ink and haven’t went to the store to get more:-D
Smooth writing, lasted longer than expected, writes fine even when cold, surprisingly durable for a pen.

    I would recommend to anyone
