Zebra Pen Rolls Out Newly Designed Packaging

new-packagingEdison, NJ (July 11, 2016) – Several years in the making, Zebra Pen Corporation, a global leader in the writing instrument industry, has unveiled new designs for their packaging.  The redesign efforts come as a way to help consumers make the connection between products and brand more easily.  Establishing a kind of uniqueness and identity on-shelf was a large motivating factor behind the change.

The team at Zebra Pen challenged themselves to redesign their packaging while working closely with consumer feedback.  Essentially, they had to rebrand the packaging as a whole.  They wanted to create a design that was easy to distinguish on the shelf, and easy for the consumer to connect back to the brand.  Through a series of online consumer studies and one-on-one consumer interviews, the team was able to analyze their findings and pursue a design that was preferred and indicated as a reason for purchase.  After a few trips back and forth from the drawing board, the final design was produced.

This new design brings together consistency with creativity.  Consumers will still be able to visibly identify the sub-brand and key product information, like point size and ink color.  A large Zebra icon and bold placement of the company name drive home the brand and distinguish Zebra Pen products clearly from competitors.  A color-coded, key product benefit serves as a great identifier for consumers and gives an extra push of intrigue to the package.  Each color is consistent with its brand family, Z-Grip, Sarasa, Cadoozles, etc.  Overall, there is a clear sense of communication between the unique selling points of each product.

“If you were to compare the old packaging side by side with the new packaging, many original design elements remain.  However, this new design on our packaging is cleaner than before and undeniably Zebra,” Newman stated enthusiastically.
